RF Engineer

Position Description:

The RF Engineer will support analysis of integration/utilization of various RF technologies used to support operations. The customer is seeking expertise to assist with investigative efforts in the identifying and analyzing all or part of a component’s existing or new peripheral, network, and telecommunications systems requirements, taking into consideration the special technology needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct computer systems analysis, RF, and security vulnerability support services that include, but are not limited to the following areas: RF systems consultation; wireless RF communications systems; RF spectrum management; RF interference monitoring; electromagnetic compatibility; waveform and signals processing; LTE, SG, and other wireless technologies (e.g., Internet of Things).
  • Support services that include generating a wide-variety of analyses, reports, briefings, and point papers on a regular and ad-hoc basis as determined necessary throughout the period of performance.
  • Analyze engineering requirements documentation to determine the impact of changes to requirements at any level of the systems engineering documentation process. The requirements documentation shall be examined to ascertain whether or not the rationale for a given change can be reviewed without the need to reconstruct the analysis process. Be able to use manual and/or automated tools to assist in the performance of daily activities and assignments. The Contractor shall provide continuing coordination and technical support to the customer through support on matters pertaining to on-going system requirements and engineering processes and activities; software and hardware lifecycle development and gate reviews; hardware and equipment acquisitions; enterprise architecture and other relevant duties as assigned.
  • Monitor development activities with the intent to verify requisite RF IT security compliance is maintained throughout the systems development lifecycle
  • Perform technical analysis of an RF system and base-end infrastructure to ensure it meets security criteria and mission constraints and to feed the analysis results back to the subsystem development teams as appropriate.
  • Be familiar with Satellite, WiFi, and mobile communications architectures and general equipment designed from fundamental components, subsystem interfaces , system layouts, etc.
  • Prepare analysis of technical data and information resulting from tests, studies, analysis, etc.
  • Assist other technical personnel in the preparation of technical reports, graphs, and charts.

As an RF Engineer the candidate may often times find him/herself attending meeting at various other sites. Personnel will be sitting at Chantilly. All personnel coming into the organization undergo an additional security review that can take anywhere from 7 business days to 30 days or more.

Required skills:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Computer/Physical Science and 10+ years’ experience. Equivalent work experience in a technical field will be considered.
  • Expertise and skills to provide technical support in one or more of a wide range of RF technologies to include; terrestrial and space based RF communications , government and commercial satellite systems, commercial cellular and wireless, an understanding of 5G technologies and embedded software/firmware development.
  • Working knowledge of the security and cyber concerns related to data management
  • Familiarity with computer security, authentication, and cryptography
  • Experience designing, developing, or deploying customized technical solutions for the Sponsor’s unique intelligence mission.
  • Ability to identify mission needs and foster creative and viable approaches to technical problems.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, foster teamwork and collaboration across cultural and organizational boundaries.

Desired skills:

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical support to Center operations.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Center construct, Operations and Science/Technology mission overseas as they apply to field operations.
  • Experience and familiarity with the secure communications mission as either a user or provider.
  • Familiarity with secure communications equipment and product lines, including a general understanding on how that equipment is developed, prepared for deployment, tested, deployed, and maintained.
  • Extensive expertise in development of terrestrial and space-based RF special communications
  • Knowledge of Intelligence Community capabilities for secure technical support to operations.
